26 generations of tradition, passion and intuition: since 1385 , when Giovanni di Piero Antinori became part of the Florentine Art of Vinattieri , the Marquises Antinori have been following a path in the continuous future of wine production by participating and managing, still today, directly the activity and establishing itself among the main Italian producers of quality wines at an international level. Great spirit that of the Marquis Piero Antinori and his daughters Albiera, Allegra and Alessia who despite the great fame gained, have never abandoned progress and experimentation giving their wine always an extra touch of elegance and finesse.

The inauguration of the cellar

«... one of the greatest strengths lies in being Tuscan, or, if you prefer, our" Tuscan ".» says Piero Antinori , and right there, in 2012 he inaugurates the new cellar , in honor of the place of origin. Between Florence and Siena, in the extraordinary hilly wine-growing scenario of Chianti, hidden and embedded in nature, you can see a structure entirely designed following the production philosophy.

The deep bond between man, his work environment and the earth is inherent in the image of that artifact that so much enhances the landscape and the surrounding area. It seems, in fact, to blend in and merge in the hills, among the vines, respecting the lines and inlets: an architectural structure lying horizontally on the slope marked by the rows of vines that even make up the covering.

The structure of the cellar

All construction materials and technologies are designed with respect for a place that has always hosted the vineyards of the Marquis Antinori. Expression of the continuity of nature are the use of terracotta, wood, corten and glass for the architecture of the cellar as well as the use of the energy produced by the earth to create the appropriate climatic conditions for the production of wine.

Almost invisible on the outside, it is recognizable by two horizontal slits and a large spiral staircase that connects the three floors of the building. The entrance of the light is also allowed by some circular holes arranged on the covering vineyard where a large terrace overlooks the vineyards cultivated with the typical varieties of the Chianti Classico: Sangiovese, Canaiolo, Ciliegiolo, Colorino, Malvasia nera, Mammolo and a part dedicated to international vines such as Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc.

In short, Cantina Antinori turns out to be a place of worship that houses in addition to the cellar, its barriques, production and bottling, also spaces and activities of social interest: from the auditorium, to the museum even to the tasting rooms and the restaurant. All places that have the aim of enhancing art (in its facets) linked to the Tuscan territory and its wine culture.

The Tuscan estates of Marchesi Antinori

But in the Chianti Classico area, three other estates are part of the properties of the Marquis Antinori, among which in the foreground is Tenuta Tignanello , the mother land of two of the most appreciated Italian wines in the world : Tignanello and Solaia . Still, south of Tignanello we find the Badia a Passignano estate and, going up towards Florence in the Chianti Classico region, Pèppoli.
