Founded in 1895 by the famous ampelographer Chrétien Oberlin, Domaine de la Ville de Colmar , it represents a unique in the Alsatian wine scene, thanks to its centuries-old history and a privileged position in the heart of the famous French region . The Domaine stands on over 28 hectares of land , where the gaze is lost in sight from the Clos Clos-Jacques vineyard of 14 hectares, to the prestigious Hospices Civils Louis Pasteur de Colmar. This land so precious, varied and suitable, where the Domaine stands, produces extraordinarily rich wines , starting with Gewürztraminer , obtained from Gewürztraminer grapes harvested in the Grand Cru vineyard of Hengst, located south of Wintzenheim. Here the rather pronounced inclination of the hill favors a better exposure to sunlight which gives a wine richer in aromas .
