The cuvée de prestige , in the world of Champagne , is the label that represents the maximum expression of each Maison , which can be vintage or not and which is often offered in the classic and rosé versions. Some of these labels, despite being born as cuvée de prestige of a production company, later became a real brand in their own right: the most emblematic case is that of " Dom Pérignon ".

Launched in 1936 with the 1921 vintage by Moët & Chandon, "Dom Pérignon" was the first cuvée de prestige in history. Until then the Champagne houses had produced cuvées of varying quality, but the concept of a top-of-the-range label represented an absolute novelty, even if Louis Roederer had produced the " Cristal " cuvée intended exclusively for the private consumption of the Tsar since 1876. of Russia. "Cristal" subsequently became available to the general public with the 1945 vintage, followed by " Les Comtes de Champagne " by Taittinger with the 1952 vintage.
