As usual, Gambero Rosso has started the publication of the previews of the wines awarded by the new 2018 edition of the guide with the prestigious Tre Bicchieri.
September 4 was the day of Sicily , with a large group of 22 labels which confirms the scope of the Etna DOC phenomenon but which also sees the presence of some new entries, a sign that this region is increasingly increasing its quality level throughout its territory. Two days later it was the turn of South Tyrol , among the flagships of national enology, with a heritage typically rich in nuances : fresh Valle Isarco, a Pinot Noir Mazzon of character, light and fragrant Kalterersee - Lake Caldaro and so on, signaling in particular a luxuriant harvest for the slave , who has seen numerous wines reaching the final stages.
On September 8, Calabria and Basilicata fell , regions for which the number of awarded labels is not representative of the qualitative leap they have known in recent years. Calabria is tinged with a modern vision oriented towards sustainability , with a pleasant rediscovery of the Saracena area , which after years of hard work obtains due recognition. Basilicata confirms the primacy of its Aglianico del Vulture , a source of pride for the beautiful wine country, but it remains a region to be discovered because it is full of unexplored potential.
The watchword for Molise is stability , with Di Majo Norante who sees his resourcefulness in defending the unique peculiarities of this area further recognized. Abruzzo, on the other hand, sees a correspondence in all its main production areas, with a good representation of its indigenous grape varieties: Trebbiano, Pecorino and Montepulciano do well, also in the rosé version , which this year sees three Cerasuolo d ' Abruzzo DOC climb the podium of the Three Glasses.
