Name linked to wine since 1141 , the year in which the Castello di Brolio was acquired, Barone Ricasoli has been included in the official ranking of the longest-lived family businesses in the world , among which it represents the oldest Italian winery. The character that more than any other has marked the fate of this company is Baron Bettino Ricasoli , a Risorgimento politician who made the history of Italy and wine: President of the Council of the Kingdom of Italy after Cavour, he is responsible for the formulation of the Sangiovese-based blend, with which the Chianti wine has been produced for almost 150 years and to which the current production specification is still based.
