Etna Rosso DOC Nero di Sei 2017 Palmento Costanzo
Description
Nero di Sei by Palmento Costanzo is a wine that comes to life from ungrafted vines, aged from 30 to 100 years. Six is the number reserved for Etna in the scientific map of the most active volcanoes on the planet.
It is created from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, which are harvested by hand in the second decade of October. The must ferments in truncated conical French oak vats with selected indigenous yeasts. After the malolactic fermentation, it is aged in French oak barrels for at least 24 months and for another 12 months in the bottle.
It manifests itself in the glass with an intriguing ruby red color. On the nose a lot of red fruit is accompanied by elegant mineral and volcanic notes. In the mouth it shows a nice softness and a texture similar to velvet, revealing itself to be a balanced wine with a long persistence on an almond finish.
Suitable to accompany a first course with meat sauce or game, it is perfect with long-aged cheeses.
