Etna Rosso DOC Nero di Sei 2016 Palmento Costanzo
Description
Nero di Sei di Palmento Costanzo is a wine that comes to life from vines with a free foot, from 30 to 100 years of age. Sei is the number reserved for Etna in the scientific map of the most active volcanoes on the planet.
It is created from Nerello Mascalese and Nerello Cappuccio grapes, which are harvested by hand in the second decade of October. The must ferments in truncated conical French oak vats with maceration on the skins for 14 days. Once the malolactic fermentation is over, it is raised in French oak barrels for at least 24 months and for another 12 months in the bottle.
It manifests itself in the glass with an intriguing ruby red color. On the nose a lot of red fruit is accompanied by elegant mineral and volcanic notes. In the mouth it shows a beautiful softness and a texture similar to velvet, revealing a balanced wine with a long persistence on an almond finish.
Suitable to accompany a first course with meat sauce or game, it is perfect with long-aged cheeses.
