Barolo DOCG Sperss 2015 Gaja
Description
The Barolo Sperss di Gaja was born in the Sperss vineyards, located in the Serralunga d'Alba cru. The name Sperss derives from the Piedmontese dialect and means nostalgia.
It is produced 94% with Nebbiolo grapes and 6% with Barbera grapes. Maceration and fermentation take place in stainless steel tanks for about 3 weeks, then the wine ages in barrique for 12 months and in barrels for a further 18 months, before being bottled.
Sperss is characterized by an intense garnet red color. The nose is complex, fine and expressive, with an excellent fruity component. In the mouth it shows a fullness of body, with a dense texture and a long finish with a pleasantly fruity persistence.
Perfect to accompany pasta dishes with mushrooms and truffles, it is ideal in combination with red meats, roasts and aged cheeses.
